JUDY GUTIERREZ

Judy comes to WJC with an extensive background in expanded learning programs and nonprofit organizations. She initially sought to work with young adults in the juvenile system, but her trajectory shifted toward preventative support after her experience with the Upward Bound TRiO programs. After years in the expanded learning field, she is delighted to be working with Azusa Unified to support the implementation of conflict resolution education and restorative justice practices.

Judy graduated from California State University, Northridge with a bachelor's degree in Sociology: Criminology and a double major in Religious Studies. She has experience working with a wide range of student populations, from infants to age 21. In addition to her work in expanded learning, she has served as a child development teacher and continues to enjoy working directly with students. She is passionate about her current work with AUSD, believing that the skills students are gaining in communication, community, and mediation are vital life skills.
