JACOB VALENZUELA
Jacob joined the WJC Programs Team in November 2023 as an AmeriCorps VISTA, where he focuses on assessing the impact of WJC's initiatives and strengthening community engagement. He holds a master's degree in Computer Science from California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA). In addition, Jacob teaches courses on industry-standard software tools and trains Los Angeles Unified School District teachers on how to teach coding at CSULA, bringing his practical experience into the classroom.
Growing up in Los Angeles, Jacob’s passion for community building took root early in his hometown of Monrovia, where he helped organize local events. This passion continued to grow as he became involved with organizations like L.A. Works, took courses through FEMA, volunteered across his community, and participated in resource drives. These experiences reinforced the importance of giving back and working with youth, which also led him to instruct aquatic programs for young people through the City of Pasadena.
At WJC, Jacob is eager to build meaningful connections, highlight the impact of WJC’s programs across district initiatives, and provide invaluable support to the Programs Team.
Outside of work, Jacob enjoys exploring Los Angeles, spending time at the beach, flying drones, cooking, and working on coding projects.
