TO SUPPORT THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN:

Dear Friends,

We are living through perilous times and a dual pandemic that strikes at the foundational health of our nation -- physically, socially, and morally.

That is why I am excited to share WJC’s new Strategic Plan with you. I'm proud of what it represents -- a return to our dispute resolution roots, a bold new chapter in our history, and an affirmation of our commitment to equity, justice, and opportunity.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our planning process over the last 15 months – board, staff, educators, youth mediators, community partners, and funders.

Your insights about the impact of conflict resolution education and the barriers to its wide scale adoption have shaped our vision of what is possible – and so desperately needed – right now.

With your help, WJC will train and mobilize 1,000 students, educators and volunteers in the next four years – empowering them with the conflict resolution skills they need to transform schools and communities for more than 15,000 youth in our region.

We are looking for schools, volunteers, community leaders and partners to join us in that effort.

We hope you’ll read the Plan and find something that calls to you, whether it’s–

  • Building school teams to transform traditional school discipline and campus policing practices that disparately impact students of color

  • Becoming a youth mediation leader with the skills to create change in your school and community

  • Becoming a mentor who shares your experience tackling complex conflicts in law, business, government, and social justice

  • Creating opportunities for youth mediators to use their conflict resolution skills in the workplace and advance toward higher education

We have an opportunity to make transformative change in our schools and communities - to create a new normal worthy of the future we want for our children.

Let’s make that change together. Contact me to get involved and make a donation today.

In solidarity,

Elissa D. Barrett, Esq.
Executive Director

P.S. In light of LAUSD's decision to remain virtual through 2020, we want to assure you that our work to transform schools through conflict resolution education is moving forward this Fall. We will tailor program delivery - virtually or in person -- as to each of the school communities we work with. Stay tuned for more updates!
