Compassion Plays Special Performance Series - Wheels by Peter Howard

  • Western Justice Center 55 South Grand Avenue Pasadena, CA, 91105 United States (map)

Join us for a viewing and discussion of "Wheels" a Compassion Plays program by Peter Howard and performed by Frankie Garces. "Wheels" explores immigration, xenophobia and the privileges and responsibilities of citizenship through the eyes of Oscar, a 15 year old Salvadoran-American youth and the people he encounters on his first journey through the maze of the DMV. Oscar is a young man on the move

The Compassion Plays program is ideal for professional development trainings for educators, law professors and more. These free previews are offered for our guests to experience the program first-hand to decide if it’s the right fit for their school or organization.

The series will be held on three consecutive nights August 7th-9th at 7-9 pm. Monday will feature "Horizon Line" followed by "Wheels" on Tuesday, and "Kick" on Wednesday.

The Compassion Plays program offers three one-person plays, each with a professionally facilitated pre and post show discussion.  The program utilizes live theater to develop understanding for experiences or identities substantially different from our own.

*Compassion Plays is an ENCOMPASS program of the Western Justice Center. All actors are exclusively contracted through Actors Equity Association, the union of professional stage performers.
