Peer Mediation: Bringing Conflict Resolution to Schools

  • Western Justice Center 55 South Grand Avenue Pasadena, CA, 91105 United States

The SCMA Education Foundation and the Western Justice Center are pleased to sponsor an evening highlighting Peer Mediation programs in schools.

Peer Mediation is conflict resolution by youth for youth. It is a process by which two or more students involved in a dispute meet in a private, safe and confidential setting to work out problems with the assistance of trained student mediators. Join us to learn about the successes of local Peer Mediation programs and their impact on the students’ lives, the climate of the schools, and the community at large.

This event will include speeches from Student Peer Mediators regarding mediator training, their experiences in mediation, and the effects of the program; followed by a panel discussion with Peer Mediation Coordinators and Student Peer Mediators from local Middle and High Schools. Jason Harper, Mediator and Alternative Dispute Resolution Consultant with the Los Angeles County Office of Education, will moderate the panel.
We encourage mediators to attend as well as school administrators, counselors, teachers, parents and students.

Please join us for a dynamic night where we recognize mediation practiced by the youngest members of our community.
