PMI is open to four students per school.
8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (all days)
Tuesday March 16 - Elementary Students
Thursday March 18 - Middle School Students
Tuesday March 23 - High School Students

The Peer Mediation Invitational (PMI) is an annual spring event hosted at the Western Justice Center in Pasadena, CA for Los Angeles County elementary, middle and high school students to celebrate their efforts as peer mediators. Students visit the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, participate in mock mediations and receive recognition and encouragement for their leadership.

9:15 am Welcoming Remarks, Hon. Dorothy W. Nelson – (Courthouse, 125 S. Grand Ave.)
9:45 am Mock Mediation Session (Courthouse)
11:15 am Lunch (WJC)
11:45 am Art Project/Guest Speaker (WJC)
12:30 pm Closing remarks, certificates (WJC)
1:00 pm Students return to school

PMI meets a need for students and schools engaged or interested in conflict resolution programs to:
- network with leaders in the field
- - interact with others involved in these programs throughout LA County
- - deepen their knowledge of conflict resolution
- feel supported and valued for their dedication to peace
If you are interested in sending students from your school please submit the school registration form and have each participating student return the parent permision form prior to the event.
Volunteers Needed!
Coach Application
Each year Judges, Lawyers, Professional Mediators and others with mediation experience are needed to serve as coaches for student participants. Coaches work with a small group of students to provide feedback and encouragement during mediation roles plays. For students learning about mediation for the first time, coaches introduce and help students practice the peer mediation skills.
Requirements/Expectations of Coaches: Must have some mediation experience or training,
