Internship
Communications Intern
The Western Justice Center is seeking a qualified graduate student or, at minimum, undergraduate senior to assist our Deputy Director with a variety of tasks related to marketing communications. These tasks include:
• drafting press releases
• contacting media for the placement of stories
• drafting OP EDs and other copy
• copy editing
• shooting video footage
• video editing
• crating short video promotional pieces
• assisting with marketing efforts
The intern will also assist with other various assigned tasks for our children, community and courts programs. This is a hands-on opportunity to collaborate and execute in providing communications support and is the perfect position for a student interested in communications, public relations, and marketing.
Requirements: Graduate student or, at minimum, undergraduate senior in Communication, public relations, marketing or related studies, detail-oriented, ability to organize and manage information, strong computer and internet research skills, enthusiastic, and commitment to conflict resolution work.
Terms of Internship: Three days a week. Part-time stipend: $400 per month.

If you are interested in becoming involved as a volunteer, please attend our monthly volunteer orientation. It is held on the first Tuesday of every month from 5:30-6:30PM at Western Justice Center. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 5:30-6:30PM. Please RSVP in advance with Western Justice Center at info@westernjustice.org. Don’t Hate Communicate
WJC is hosting a one day event at youth and parenting training at the Jackie Robinson Center on Saturday July 17 10AM – 6 PM. We need 4 volunteers to provide general administrative support during the day of event and 4 volunteers to videotape the event using our Flip Cameras. Attending an orientation may be required for this event, date and time to be determined. Work it out at Work
WJC is hosting two day Conflict Resolution training on July 20th and 27th 8AM-5PM. Specifically designed for Non-Profit Organizations and Local Government Agencies, this workshop will teach how to increase cross-cultural competency, build strong partnerships, prevent conflict, and become a better negotiator. We need 2 volunteers on July 27th to film the training using Flip Cameras. We also need 4 volunteers with facilitation experience to facilitate mock mediations. School Conflict Resolution Coach
The Western Justice Center is looking for people with conflict resolution, mediation, and/or facilitation experience to aid in coaching elementary, middle and high school students in conflict resolution skills. Trainings take place throughout the school year on a variety of days and times. Training opportunities will be advertised throughout the year and volunteers can commit on an as-available basis.
Facilitators and Recorders
The Western Justice Center is looking for people with experience to act as facilitators and recorders at large-scale dialogues. Dialogues may take place throughout the year at schools and in the community. Opportunities will be advertised throughout the year and volunteers can commit on an as-available basis.
Spanish Translator
The Western Justice Center is looking to translate flyers, lessons and other materials from English to Spanish. Language fluency in English and Spanish. Computer skills necessary. Good verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail. Volunteers can commit on an as-available basis.
