The George H. Maxwell House was built in 1929 as a winter "bungalow" adjacent to the Vista Del Arroyo Hotel, a luxurious resort that flourished in Pasadena during the early 20th century.

The Maxwell House at the Western Justice Center can provide a perfect setting inside or outside on our beautiful patio, for:

  • Small to medium-sized wedding ceremonies and receptions
  • Inside seating for 100 people
  • Patio seating or a standing patio reception for 150 people
  • Standing reception (inside/outside) for charitable or other purposes for 300 people, or seating as above.
  • Theater-style meetings with videoconferencing capability.
  • Classroom lecture for 60 students.
  • Intimate retreats and private mediations.

Maxwell House is one of four buildings built between 1925 and 1935 that make up the campus-like complex of the Western Justice Center Foundation and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Maxwell House was built in the Mediterranean Revival style, designed by the noted architectural firm of Marston and Maybury.
